Additional Supports and Services
At the Igo Elementary School we offer many opportunities for students to develop skills that foster academic and social success. Students may be recommended to participate in individual or small group lessons that focus on specific areas of social, emotional or behavioral skill development. Students may be referred for this general education service by their school counselor, classroom teacher, or their caregiver.
In-Class Support In Class Supports Include: Observation of student behavior. Designing and implementing support strategies to increase student engagement and achievement. Modeling "Whole Body Listening" and "Expected Behaviors." Fostering the development of organizational strategies. Small group or whole class social skills group.
Flexible Small Group Lessons Flexible Small Group Lessons Include: One or more students participating in therapeutic activities specifically designed to foster positive self-image and promote healthy peer relationships. Lessons that are designed to teach and allow opportunity to practice a specific skill.
Specific Skill Instruction This service is provided for students who have been identified as in need specialized skill instruction to help them increase competence on a specific skill deficit and is a typically driven by a Special Education Plan or a 504 Plan.
